Choosing a Proper Parenting Style Essay Sample

The parenting style that this essay discusses is the authoritarian parenting style. This style is where the parents are very engaged in forcible behavioral control and the child is more likely to be worried, sad, and low in self-reliance and self-esteem. I do not agree with this parenting style because I think it is too restrictive and can result in the child having low self-esteem and being withdrawn. I also think that the authoritative parenting style is a better option because it is more accepting and involves the child in decision making. This parenting style is related to various aspects of the child’s life such as self-control, academic performance, responsiveness to parents’ views, task persistence, and social and moral development.
